Toyota driver Ken Gushi returns to victory lane at Formula Drift season finale

It was a tough battle as Gushi drew the series champion James Deane, and it would not be an easy road. The judges issued a One More Time, having the duo contest again to see who would move on the final round. However, Gushi would not be denied. At a track just down the street from his hometown, Gushi scored the win at the ‘House of Drift’ – and delivered Toyota their third win of the season with three different drivers.

October 26, 2019, Aasbø came into the season finale in second place – just 19 points out of first.

Unfortunately, it was not the storybook ending for Fredric Aasbø. Aasbø came into the season finale in second place – just 19 points out of first. After scoring the opening round win, Aasbø was defeated in just his second match up of the day – clinching the title for Deane. Deane also ended the day of Aasbø’s Toyota teammate, Ryan Tuerck, in the round of 8, while Tuerck bested fellow Toyota driver Jhonnattan Castro in the second round.

Despite the early defeat, Aasbø continued his run of six consecutive top-two finishes in the standings with a runner-up points result, while Ryan Tuerck was scored fifth overall. With the win, Gushi closed to within seven points of the top-10 in the final point standings.
