Antron Brown had a big bounce back season. Former crew chief Brian Corradi returned to the team and contributed to Brown’s resurgence in performance. Brown drove to his first victory in the season-ending race at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The three-time Top Fuel champion’s victory bumped him back inside the top-five in the point standings for the first time since 2017.
Shawn Langdon returned to the Top Fuel class after two years aboard a Funny Car for Kalitta Motorsports. Langdon picked a good race to have his best event of the season – the U.S. Nationals. The 2013 Top Fuel champion qualified on the pole and drove to his second U.S. Nationals trophy – his first Top Fuel win since 2016. That victory continued Toyota’s run of success at the biggest race on the NHRA tour. Toyota drivers scored wins in the U.S. Nationals the last four seasons, and seven of the past eight.
Legendary driver Tony Schumacher drove for Toyota for the first time in his return to the sport. Schumacher competed in a part-time schedule but was able to return to the winner’s circle at his home track in Texas. Despite not running all of the events, Schumacher was able to finish inside the top-10 in the overall point standings.
In Funny Car, former champion J.R. Todd came close to adding to his victory total with two runner-up finishes in Indianapolis. He earned a sixth-place finish in the overall standings. Just two spots behind him was Alexis DeJoria, who made her return to the sport after departing in 2017. DeJoria earned a top-10 finish in the point standings and closed the season with three semi-final finishes in the final four events.
Overall, Toyota drivers earned five race wins and all six Toyota drivers claimed spots in the top-10 in the final point standings.
